Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd chief executive officer, Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah said ship handling and the number of containers also experienced increases of 11.4 per cent and 4.4 per cent respectively, making 2022 the year of best performance so far since the start of operations in 1983.

“Among our achievements in 2022 are firstly, the start of four new export lines at BBSB; secondly, the successful special handling of project cargo for the Sarawak Petchem Project at BPSB; thirdly, the maiden voyage of MV Tiger Bintulu for the ISO LNG tank project and fourthly, a new achievement of more than 50 million tons since day 1 at BPHB and, of course, BPSB’s Interim Agreement Signing ceremony for its concession.

“All these achievements could not have been achieved without your contribution and our teamwork,” he said at the Bintulu Port Group Customer Appreciation Night held at The Gold Mines Gastropub, here, Saturday night.

Medan stressed that Bintulu Port Group remains ready and continues to strive to achieve the company’s mission which is to provide operational excellence and ensure long-term sustainability.

At the same time, he also hoped that the close cooperation and relationship between related agencies, especially the BPHB Group companies, could be maintained in the future under the leadership of the new Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd chief executive officer, Ruslan Abdul Ghani who will start his duties effective March 1.

Medan, who will retire on Feb 28 after six years as CEO of the company group, hopes that customers will provide unwavering and continuous support to his successor.

“I believe there is a bright future for the Bintulu Port Group under Ruslan’s leadership, so let us continue the momentum and synergy between us to achieve better performance in the coming years,” he said.
