Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad’s Net Profit Rose 7.5% in Q1FY2026 Following Increased Handling of Samalaju Cargoes
22 May 2026

BINTULU, 22 MAY 2026 – Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (“Bintulu Port Holdings” or “The Group”) recorded operating revenue of RM218.47 million for the first quarter ended 31 March 2026 (“Q1 FY2026”), representing an increase of 8.3% from RM201.71 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

The stronger performance was driven by higher cargo handling activities, which contributed to improved overall cargo throughput and earnings during the quarter.

The higher revenue was mainly attributed to stronger port services activities at Samalaju Industrial Port Sdn Bhd, where cargo handling revenue increased to RM44.54 million from RM36.12 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

Meanwhile, Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd also registered improved cargo handling activities, resulting in revenue increased to RM161.84 million from RM156.19 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Biport Bulkers Sdn Bhd also recorded a 28.6% increase in revenue to RM12.09 million compared with RM9.40 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

Supported by stronger operating performance, the Group’s profit before tax for the quarter rose 7.8% to RM45.73 million from RM42.43 million achieved in the corresponding quarter last year, despite total expenses increased by RM11.51 million to RM180.81 million compared with corresponding quarter last year. The higher total expenses were mainly due to increased direct operating costs in line with higher operational activities and were partly contributed by higher fuel-related costs arising from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Earnings Per Share for the quarter improved to 6.63 sen from 6.17 sen recorded in corresponding quarter last year. The Group also declared an interim single-tier dividend of 3.0 sen per share for the quarter, consistent with the corresponding quarter last year, payable on 8 July 2026.

Looking ahead, Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad expects LNG cargo handling, and vessel calls to remain the Group’s key revenue drivers in 2026, supported by continued dry bulk cargo activities at both Bintulu Port and Samalaju Industrial Port as well as bulking activities at Biport Bulkers Sdn Bhd.
