Bintulu Port awards RM22mil dredging job to Integrated Marine Works

KUALA LUMPUR: Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd’s unit Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd has awarded a RM21.93mil contract to Integrated Marine Works Sdn Bhd for maintenance dredging works.

It said the four-month contract also entailed a 6% goods and services tax totalling RM1.316mil.

Bintulu Port, which is 28.5% owned by Petroliam Nasional Bhd, said a rate of 0.0219% of the contract sum per day (excluding the 6% GST) would be imposed as liquidated and ascertained damages for non—performance of the works.

In February 2013 Bintulu Port had awarded Integrated Marine Works a RM437mil contract under the Samalaju Port Phase 1 capital dredging and reclamation package.

In 2004 Integrated Marine Works was awarded a 15-year concession by the Government for the maintenance and dredging works on all major ports and river ports in the country.

Bintulu Port shares last traded at RM6.50 (Oct 7).
