PROJECT ENGINEER , CIVIL & STRUCTURAL
Job Description

THE JOB:  

Responsible for overseeing the planning, design, implementation, and completion of Civil & Structural (C&S) works for construction and facilities improvement projects. This includes managing C&S scope, ensuring compliance with specifications, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, and coordinating activities among various teams and contractors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Project Management: Lead the C&S aspect of projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
  2. Design and Technical Expertise: Oversee the development and review of C&S designs to ensure they meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory specifications.
  3. Coordination and Supervision: Coordinate and communicate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution. Supervise C&S site activities and resolve technical issues.
  4. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all C&S works are completed in compliance with HSE regulations, local building codes, and international technical standards. Ensure adherence to the Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
  5. Budget and Schedule Management: Monitor and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring that C&S works are implemented within the agreed financial and time constraints. Provide progress reports to superior.
  6. Quality Control: Implement quality assurance processes for C&S works, conduct regular site inspections and ensure all C&S works are performed to the highest quality standards.
  7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues associated with C&S works and take proactive steps to mitigate them, including managing change orders and unforeseen conditions.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, technical specifications, drawings, and compliance records. Provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  9. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve engineering problems in a proactive manner, recommending appropriate solutions to keep projects on track.
  10. Demonstrate and ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information in accordance with Bintulu Port information security requirements, policies and procedures during and after employment.

 

Skills Required
  • Proficient in project management software such as Microsoft Project / Primavera 6
  • Familiar with design codes and standards commonly used in the Malaysian construction and port industry
  • Familiar with project and contract management
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software
  • Strong knowledge of brownfield projects, construction processes, and engineering design principles. 
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations and their applications 
  • Strong communication and project management skills. 
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and collaborate effectively with diverse teams. 
Additional Details
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related fields from a recognized institution
  • Working Experience
  • At least 7 years of working experience in relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Civil/Structural project engineering, preferably in construction or facilities improvement.
