THE JOB: 

Oversee technical fire safety inspections and physical assessments of all vessels and port infrastructure. Supervise inspection activities conducted by operational personnel and directly conduct building fire safety evaluations to ensure technical compliance with fire safety systems and structural requirements in accordance with IMO SOLAS, Fire Services Act 1988, and Bintulu Port Authority By-Laws. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Supervise all vessel fire safety inspections and ship-shore safety verification conducted by Fire Supervisors and Lead Firemen, ensuring technical compliance with SOLAS, IMDG Code, and maritime fire safety standards; 
• Directly conduct technical fire safety inspections of port buildings, warehouses, terminals, and infrastructure including fire protection systems, structural fire safety, and building code compliance; 
• Review and validate technical inspection reports, establish inspection standards and procedures, approve technical findings, and ensure consistency in all physical inspection activities; 
• Manage fire safety certification processes for port buildings, verify vessel fire safety documentation, issue fire certificates, and maintain technical compliance records. 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Physically fit, able to swim, not color blind, no height phobia 
• Valid driving license 
• Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia 
• Willing to work shifts including nights, weekends, and during emergencies 
• High integrity and ability to work under pressure
