BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) in collaboration with the Sarawak Forestry Department (FDS) has successfully organized a 'Jungle Trekking' Program and tree planting at Similajau Forest Reserve, recently.
BPHB in its statement said that this program is part of the Sarawak Greening Campaign.
It aims to plant 35 million trees throughout Sarawak as a commitment to environmental conservation.
A total of 131 participants, consisting of 93 BPHB representatives and 38 from FDS, took part in the program.
Throughout the program, as many as 250 saplings from nine local species, such as Bintangor Batang Putih, Selangan Batu Pinang, and Merawan Siput Jantan, were planted as a symbol of shared responsibility towards a greener future.
In his brief speech, Bintulu Forest Department Regional Officer, Hwang Chiong Hee, emphasized the importance of this initiative for environmental conservation.
This program is expected to increase public awareness of the importance of forest conservation efforts.
