KUCHING (Nov 12): Bintulu Port is positioning itself to support emerging sectors such as green hydrogen and renewable energy logistics, said Datuk Ruslan Abdul Ghani.
The Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) president and group CEO said this reflected its readiness to lead in the energy transition era.
On innovation, he said Bintulu Port is embracing digital transformation and green technologies, from smart port systems to environmentally friendly equipment, in pursuit of its goal to become a modern, sustainable green port.
“Bintulu Port handles more than 80 per cent of Sarawak’s total imports and exports every year, underscoring our pivotal role as a key enabler of Sarawak’s trade and economic growth,” he said at BPHB’s Customer Centric Award Nite 2025 here yesterday.
As of last September, he said Bintulu Port recorded 38.3 million tonnes of total cargo throughput and 5,649 vessel calls, maintaining high operational resilience despite temporary challenges from LNG maintenance and weather conditions.
Ruslan said the port also achieved competitive vessel turnaround times — 27 hours for LNG and 47 hours for non-LNG vessels — and maintained an equipment availability rate of 87 per cent.
Financially, the group reported a return on investment of RM41 million, earnings per share of 22.3 sen, and operating cash flow of RM117.7 million.
He said such strong fundamentals enable continuous reinvestment in infrastructure, digital innovation, and talent development.
Ruslan reaffirmed BPHB’s vision to remain the port of choice through operational excellence, sustainable growth, and strong partnerships. - The Borneo Post
