KUCHING, Nov 11: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) continues to solidify its role as a key economic driver for Sarawak, with notable growth and ongoing infrastructure improvements.
BPHB President and CEO, Dato Ruslan Abdul Ghani, shared that by September 2025, the port had handled 38.3 million tonnes of cargo and 5,649 vessel calls, maintaining operational efficiency despite challenges like LNG maintenance and weather disruptions.
“Our ability to maintain fast vessel turnaround times, 27 hours for LNG and 47 hours for non-LNG vessels speaks to the strength of our infrastructure and workforce,” Ruslan said in his opening speech during the Customer Centric Nite 2025 event on Tuesday.
He also highlighted the port’s green initiatives, including the addition of five new Reach Stacker Devices (RSD), two electric-powered, and six Hybrid RTGs (Rubber Tyred Gantry cranes), demonstrating a commitment to sustainability.
Financially, the port reported a return on investment of RM41 million, earnings per share of 22.3 cents, and operating cash flow of RM117.7 million, paving the way for further investments in innovation and workforce development.
“Bintulu Port handles over 80% of Sarawak’s total imports and exports, playing a pivotal role in connecting Sarawak to global markets,” Ruslan remarked.
He also highlighted that the port is positioning itself to lead the transition to green energy, including green hydrogen and renewable energy logistics, ensuring its role as a key player in the global energy shift.
“Our focus on sustainability and innovation ensures that Bintulu Port will remain a critical player in global trade for years to come,” Ruslan said. – TVS
