BINTULU: Anjung Kasih of Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) Hospital Bintulu became the first Anjung Kasih YKN to receive full sponsorship from a corporate company, Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB).
The Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said this initiative reflects the commitment of the private sector in supporting community welfare and health efforts.
She emphasized the importance of cooperation with government-related companies (GLCs) and private companies in each state.
Thus, she called on all private companies to join hands with the government in an effort to improve facilities for the well-being of the people.
Meanwhile, Nancy said the construction of Anjung Kasih YKN Bintulu Hospital does not involve a new building.
Instead it uses an existing building, such as a nurse's room that may be outdated.
"The tender process for construction is underway, and the date of operation will be set after that," She said.
She said this at a press conference after witnessing the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the establishment of Anjung Kasih YKN Hospital Bintulu between the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YKN, Nordina Haron, and the CEO of BPHB Group, Ruslan Abdul Ghani, at the lobby of Bintulu Hospital on Thursday.
Anjung Kasih YKN Bintulu Hospital will provide 67 beds for patients as well as various other facilities such as accommodation rooms, prayer rooms, rest rooms, bathrooms, toilets and dining rooms.
Everything is fully sponsored by BPHB.
Nancy also explained that patients who need this service are not only from Bintulu, but also from areas such as Belaga and Mukah.
This makes this construction very important to overcome the problem of lack of space.
Anjung Kasih YKN at Bintulu Hospital is the fourth in Sarawak after Sarawak General Hospital, Sibu Hospital and Miri Hospital.
Since 2006, a total of 19 Anjung Kasih have been operating nationwide to benefit more than 104,714 residents.
At the event, Nancy also witnessed a brief ceremony of handing over a replica check amounting to RM1 million from BPHB to YKN.
