BINTULU, 19 SEPTEMBER 2024 – Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has donated RM1 million to establish the Bintulu Port Anjung Kasih YKN at Bintulu Hospital, Sarawak.
The donation was formalized today through the signing of a memorandum of agreement between BPHB and Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN). The event took place at Bintulu Hospital in Nyabau, Bintulu, and also marked the official handover of the donation.
The memorandum was signed by Encik Ruslan bin Abdul Ghani, Group Chief Executive Officer of BPHB, and Puan Nordina binti Haron, Chief Executive Officer of YKN. The ceremony was witnessed by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family & Community Development, and Chairman of the YKN Board of Trustees.
The Bintulu Port Anjung Kasih YKN will provide temporary accommodation for family members from underserved communities who are accompanying patients receiving treatment at government hospitals. Restoration and refurbishment work is expected to begin in November 2024 and to be completed by August 2025.
Currently, there are 16 Anjung Kasih centers nationwide, serving over 96,000 residents since 2006. Sarawak is home to three existing Anjung Kasih centers in Kuching, Sibu, and Miri.
Through this partnership, Bintulu Port aims to make a meaningful contribution to the local community by offering much-needed shelter and care at the Bintulu Port Anjung Kasih YKN in Bintulu. By aligning business goals with social responsibility, Bintulu Port believes this initiative will enhance the well-being of the community.
Also present at the ceremony were YBhg. Datuk Dr. Maziah Binti Che Yusoff, Secretary General of the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development, Dr. Suzalinnaa binti Sulaiman, Director of Bintulu Hospital, and Puan Maslihah Hj Tioh, Head of Group Corporate Services, along with members of BPHB’s Leadership Team.
